I use wordperfect and it is fairly easy, I set my margins so only 80 characters can appear on a line, then after I have typed out the description - or what ever I need I do a search replace. I replace every soft return to a hard return and add a role + after it. locks a bit like {Find [SRt]} {Replace [Hrt] role + } and then replace them. Now all I have to do is cut and paste, making sure I don't send too much information as that will cause me to disconect. It's not very hard and you can do most of the work offline. I am sure there is a similar way to do the same in Word.
