Storm giant is a fine choise, they have no vulns and got waterbreathing. But if you were thinking of going Rager, i would prefer a cloud because they fly, though there vulns arenīt as fun.

Now the important thing is DON'T practice anything you don't need or at least right when you get em. For example Kick is not worth practicing, when you get it (15), because nothing draws mana at that rank. I might be wrong here but if you aren't planning to join a cabal, a skill like meditation is never needed.Instead you might wanna practice trip and perfect it.

I don't care how boring you think training your skills are there somethings you must master, such as: parry, dodge, shield block, (and if you choose a weapon spec with a defensive skill master it as soon as possible), all lagging skills such as trip, bash etc and at least learn most common weapons (axe, mace, sword, dagger, staff) to about 90 - 95%.

Learning your skills to this extent will also help your exploring ( you will be more able to survive).

well I hope I helped you some...
