Contrary to a lot of what is posted here, the staff of the Forum isn't interested in protecting players. You are quite welcome to be negative about any number of CF issues here. You can tell other people that their ideas are horrible. You can yell about the staff, including me. Feel free. We do protect active characters, however. The character assassination rule is intended to make sure that each character is judged through IC interactions, and no one's game experience is ruined by the Forum. If you want to post as your current character, and make an ass out of yourself, it's your decision. (I think someone recently did. *cough*) Just don't use the Forum to make -someone else's character- look like an ass. Some simple guidelines: 1) If you want to discuss an issue (as a recent example, Arbiters), look for a way to do it without naming or implying any one individual. Most of the time, it's not hard. 2) It doesn't matter if your slander is true. If some character is, indeed, a horrible roleplayer, let people figure it out in game. I will also remind you that it is perfectly legal to slander another Theran IC. For certain roles, it's recommended. CharacterX screwed you over? Let his whole cabal know. Bribe someone to kill him. Lie to their superiors about them. Carry out your vendetta in any way your role allows. Just don't bring it here. 3) I don't recommend posting as your active character. Use a silly anonymous handle, or the name of a dead character. Logs are the usual exception. 4) If you suspect a rules violation, report it in game. The IMMs do not act on things posted here, and for good reason.
