I'll give you a clue, though. I was standing over his shoulder, and begged him to cast Knight three times.

And as for Cador, yes, he was rather hard. He was scary if you f'd up. That earned him a reputation. So people became more assholeish towards him, and he got even harder. It's what could happen when/if you've been an imm for a long time. He was not childish, or mean spirited. Just very hard.

PS: If you cast Knight more than one time per level, you deserved the title you got. The Knight spell is a spell of honor and virtue, and not one to be taken lightly.
