1) Yep. Singing them over and over is the best way to practice. It probably doesn't hurt to make sure int, wis, and cha are maxed out.

2) This is also the way to practice the "sing" skill, except that "sing" goes up slower. (It's like spellcraft. So is A Capella, for that matter.)

3) Being drunk makes your songs (and practicing).... different. Do not be shy about the alcohol. Heck, carry some around. Learn how intoxication can be bad. (Dying because of drunkenness is kinda embarrassing.)

4) There is at least one bard guild with an empty room in it. This is very handy, because practicing piercing sweet music and the like tends to irritate guildmasters.
