> Just out of curiosity, what made you select the Daniel-san approach to CF for Dummies? Number One: A lot of it really is relevant. The squish like grape thing is flippantly stated, but I see it again and again and again and again. I see people with flawless PK records do it all the time and end up deleting over it. That thing about attacking the giant and being surprised when Battle gangs you down -- again, you laugh, but I see that kind of thing *constantly*. The karate here thing is maybe one of the biggest points there are. I often see characters with only trivial skills over about 80% (e.g. if you're a warrior and you have been wielding a sword since level 1, having a moderate sword skill by level 20 isn't really all that big a deal) and not even near perfect tanking skills just wipe the floor with characters that have spent countless hours practicing. Can it help? Well, sure. But if you're trying to fix your game by having perfect skills you're looking in the wrong place. It's a much better idea to try to get your act together as a player before worrying too much about the character skills or gear. Attitude I couldn't say enough about. Those of you who go back far enough to remember Gareth (and please, no anti-Gareth threads starting), that guy was all attitude. He could have 1% hp and he would STILL be chasing you around trying to kill you if hte thought he could. Now, does someone who plays like that die a lot more than a more conservative player? Obviously yeah. Did he kill loads o' people with that philosophy? Sure. I'm not suggesting anyone play that way (I don't) but there's a lesson there. The one trick lesson is relevant and you can't read a full page of this forum without seeing someone not get it. A deep-seated desire to write the words, 'No can defense, my ass, old man.'
