They do aid elitism, you cant go from being the best player in some 1000 player base LP mud to cf and be elite straight away > Lesson: Listen to your elders. Sometimes they know what they're talking about, even if you don't understand why or think they may be exploiting you for menial labor. On the other hand, sometimes there is value in challenging the knowledge passed down by your elders. This is important, ignorance or arrogance often makes the non-elite waste good information yeah > Lesson: Competent backup is priceless. Thats right, i would rather fight alone at times then bring a moron with me. Its all about style, do you want to be seen with an idiot. > Lesson: Either go all in full offensive or run the hell away when the opportunity to fight presents itself. Either way can work out for you. Hanging around for a few rounds to see how you do is generally a bad idea and will get you squished like a grape. This can be true, though i dont think you can live by any one stratagy, every combo of character can handle being attacked differently, some cases you can stay to see how it goes, other combos would do better running always. This is so true, so many people win the fight and give up once they flee or when they move from the flee room. Talk is so cheap, better to say nothing to your killer and plan a silent revenge. This is so true and is shown when none-elite axe spec ragers during times of good rager populations go well, then play a empire mage and con-loss. > Lesson: Attitude goes a long way. Fear is the biggest enemy, sometimes its easy to kill a decked out non-elite than if they had average eq, because they are so worried about dieing > Lesson: If you can trick your enemies to fighting on your terms, you hold a significant advantage. I support balls to the wall courage, extreme gang banging or deceptive ploys and everything in between. > Lesson: Cheaters never prosper. . . at least, not forever. Depends on the cheating, it can be a little fun, though you do lose in the end. I agree, if you dont shoot for the moon, you wont stand on it. (With the exception of weapon breaker and Isty...oh how i loved doing that to him 1 hour after he get the sword from throthon) > Where do I even begin? > Lesson: A perfectly executed attack is tough to beat. It is, though over confidence can be a weakness So many people after dieing try and gain respect back, call you names, say you got lucky etc. If you died to them, accept it. Its easy to think your are the better pker and they got lucky, but how do you know that they didnt plan the fight like that, how do you know that if you got them low, they wouldnt have an escape plan.....the person who lost is the person who died..period > Lesson: There isn't one strategy that's good in any one situation. No can defense, my ass, old man. Strive to avoid becoming a "one trick pony" or "bash spammer" or whatever you want to call it. right on > Lesson: Just because you've only seen one trick from someone doesn't automatically make them a one-trick pony. It may be that they only need that one trick to beat you. Don't be surprised if they bust out a new one when the occasion calls for it. yup
> Artificial rankings of eliteness, such as how many years you've played, how many heroes you've had, and even your PK record are ultimately just that -- artificial.
> Lesson: If you go attack the giant alone with six ragers on, don't be too surprised if you quickly find six people bashing you.
As for competent backup, you just cant beat this. When you know what each other are thinking, the team is deadily.
You are never gonna be elite if you always run, though if you stay and die, least you will learn something. The more you fight (regardless if you die) the more you learn.
> Lesson: That pretty much says it. Unless your role lends itself to mercy, don't be merciful. It can only bite you in the ass later.
Its very foolish, you win, they escape, they win, you die....You will just never get ahead.
> Lesson: Don't talk smack unless you plan on backing it up. It doesn't win you any respect.
Usually abusing someone only makes you look like an idiot or a newbie.
> Lesson: Gear is transient. Powers are transient. Character skills are transient. Even area knowledge can be transient at times. Player skills last forever.
Or when you go around for a few months with the best set of eq in the game, and die to a gang bang, then still kick ass and have a decent set after a day.
> Fear does not exist in this dojo. Pain does not exist in this dojo. Defeat does not exist in this dojo.
they let fear take away their skill.
> Nobody touches the prima donna until the tournament.
Do what it takes to obtain your possible 2 objects, a kill, or respect.
> Sweep the leg.
Cheating though, (in a less strict world) should only be for fun, like grouping with your friends, not for personal gain like multi charring eq.
> Lesson: If you don't make actually winning your goal (rather than some stupid thing like saccing your opponent's weapon before you die) you never really will.
> Crane Kick. If done correctly, no can defense.
> Lesson: If you see your opponent do something that seems stupid but they wind up looting your corpse. . .maybe it wasn't really stupid.
