From experince with both a hero-dwarf and a necromancer/ap what I have found out about dwarven resistence is this :
It works very well with maldictions especialy disease and poison. If you as an Ap sleep a dwarf chance are that you will use the rest of your mana on plague/poison.
But .. it dosen't seem to be +save for the dwarf since I have never ever been frozen by blowfish as mush as I did with my hero-warrior-dwarf.

To sum it up, it works for some things(players) and dosen't for others(Items).
