Neopaladins have the ability to beat any evil in a straight fight. This was not true of paleopaladins. Neos are badass, evils should fear them. Evils scoffed at paleos. As far as dedications go, the immortals designed them with equal potential. However, what I have seen has led me to the belief that for most players shield dedication is better. My logic is that 1) most players use communes strictly during combat and 2) the shield spec gives you a passive skill while you are doing this. There is also the availability of noremove swords and maces, while finding a decent noremove two-handed weapon is a real pain, there are a ton of one-handed maces and swords that will work. I hope my opinions help.
