I am unsure of how many muds others have played, But I would have to say Im am a pretty sever mud addict, at times I would have had up to 4-5 different mud windows up. I've died a bunch of times on cf Cause I've been pking on another mud when I've been jumped on cf. I have also witnessed time and time again muds, their immortals, change aspects of the mud-gameplay and the player base die or infact grow. Every mud that has players has some aspect which the player likes.

Now ignoreing cf, Lets take a simple look at what people like about playing games.

a) instant feed back, you do something - something happens in return.
b) good time filler, can spend hours playing them if you have the time ******* IMMMMM PPOOOORRRTTTAAANNNTT
c) can be played if you dont have much time, eg:
Your on lunch break at work have a hour off, can start
playing the game then stop a hour latter. ***** IMPORTANT!
d) the costs for playing the game are normaly quiet cheap (excludeing arcades :)P, or buying games of the shelf - when you could burn them hehe)
e) Other people play the game with you and your excitement and their interaction add pleasure to the game.

They are the basics for all games, this last year I've done alot of work for a games company, mainly in reguards to gameplay and Q&A.
Yes I could be wrong but the people who are paying me to do this job awarded me bonus packages for my work.

I take a look at Cf and see a couple simple problems that could be adressed. Yes this has most likely been mentioned in many prior posts. I would be extremly interested in getting a detailed reply from the Imm staff of Cf on this.

- 1-2nd age playing cf didnt require tonnes of time. Creating leveling a character took a couple days at max. Currently your looking at weeks or perhaps even a month. That is on the assumption that you have tonnes of time spare.
All those lunch time , afternoon time players that cf used to have are gone.. Why ? Simply put they dont have the time needed to play cf anymore.
-possible solutions ***
>decrease character creation time. FOR ALL RACE CLASS MIXES.
>decrease practice and learning rates of all skills and spells. (50-150 hours is blowen on pracing skills to a functional level.) Not to mention many skills and spells not being reliable even when perfected.
>Increase characters age limits, increase deaths per con (make sure players with short amounts of time are able to keep a character and be able to play and fight with it without haveing to worry about loseing the character within 15-20 days of playing it.
(1 death a day for 24 days = 8 con.) (perhaps 1 hour of cabal rading fighting pking whilst leveling or laged mob death)
(3 deaths a day for 24 days = 24 con.) (5-6 hours a day rading pking xping, perhaps even trying to retrive - instead of logging out)

NB***
Now I've seen and discussed with other imms, and imm staff on other muds about takeing such action.
their commen RE's are as follows.
- but then we will have a flood of XXXX (insert powerfull class)
my reply, yes there will be inbalance for a while, untill everyone gets tired of it, or doesnt want to be one of the crowd. (or something novel like balanceing the class)
- then everyone will have 500 characters.
my reply, yes they will have 500 characters and eventually they will think hey why bother saveing all these characters when it only takes a short time to make a new character.
(speed this process, ask and partially enforce a 1 character at a time policy, no you will never fully achieve it... If somone wants 2 chars BADLY they will find a way).

Now here is a quick over view of 1-2nd age, and Now.
1-2nd age:
50% players were uncabaled.
pb used to be 75 constantly almost 24 hour.
code altered max peak 130 min 60's
next to no rp.
next to no immortal rules and regs on cabals.
Imms mortal and player interaction limited mainly to
guideing players, setting up quests, once in a blue moon tattooing , creation leader weapons hehe, appointing leaders.

Now:
100% enforced Rp
100% enforced denied for excessive pking.
probably 25% pb uncabaled
pb max 85
pb min , hehe saw like 7 last night.
full immortal rules and regs on all cabals.
sever immortal interaction with players, cabal kickings for *grey* areas, no warnings and not discussion as to where the player has wronged OOC or IC.(how is the player supposed to learn ?)
Players dont control where the cabal is going, who is the enemies friends etc *policy in general*

Everything seems to be done behind the *cough* Iron curtain... hehehe
50% of players are playing blind cause they get fucked over without know what they did wrong.
Empire is such a prime example.
One moment your doing fine BOOM your kicked the next.

Nuff of a rant from me.
just one more tip for all players before you choose to delete Pray to talk with a Imm, ask for a trans as well.
Once you are there ask all the questions you can think of before deleteing. This will be the only way you can force them to actually help you.

What did you think of my Rp, Could I have improved it in any aspect.
I dont understand this ***** aspect of the cabal, can you explain it to me.
What have I actually done wrong to deserver **** punishment.
Then for all the Reputation freaks,
What was my pk stats
what was my luck stat
etc.
