I think you need to give more information before anybody can make an educated guess.

What type of computer are you connecting with? Have you ever been able to connect with it? Do you use straight telnet or a client? Who is your ISP? Are you connecting at work/school? Do _any_ telnet connections work? Are you trying to mud through a firewall? Can you do a tracert or ping to carrionfields.org to see if you have an open path? Are you trying to mud on a network where perhaps your employer and/or educator have deemed mudding to be against the rules?

Any answers along these lines should help narrow it down.
