I'm presently in the middle of some Gene Wolfe books. The Book of the New Sun, which is actually four books divided into two volumes:

Shadow and Claw contains:
The Shadow of the Torturer
The Claw of the Conciliator

Sword and Citadel contains:
The Sword of the Lictor
The Citadel of the Autarch

So far, it seems to be a good read.
