It wasn't long ago that(maybe a year) that I was anathemized by the Emperor Remath. This happened because another citizen asked me the words to the bloodoath because he himself couldn't remember. An immortal happened to be snooping one of us and heard that we didn't know the bloodoath so he told the Emperor. Seconds later we get called to the Throne Room and are told to recite the oath. I go first and fail...anathemized.
The bloodoath is something that is supposed to be so prevalent in your char's life that he couldn't possibly forget it. It'd be like forgetting your own birthday. This is the driving force in everything you do, and so to forget it is to forget that you're serving the Empire.
It wasn't long ago that Tureanthen sent a note to Empire stating that those who don't remember the oath they take are to be made anathema. I'm sure this was done on a roleplay level rather than on an anti-newbie level.
