No, you didn't.

Yes I did. I quote,
"I have no problem being wrong. So I'm wrong. I'm soooooo wrong. Big way way way big wrong."

>
I said you can't take incorrect premises and arrive at truth reasoning from them (and only them). You jumped on that. Yes, the logic can be sound despite the unsoundness of its foundation. That doesn't mean what it produces has any value.

First, you "assumed" (and I quoted that 'assumed' from your own sentence) that I can reason from false premise to a true conclusion. To which I replied, no you can't. Logic only pertains to using the proper method of reasoning.

>
You disagreed, and thus I questioned your qualification to speak on the subject of logic.

If I had disagreed I wouldn't have said I was wrong. (with regard to my statement, but not my logical reasoning) I'm only conceding my statement being wrong because since, after all, you coded it (or helped coded it) and presumably, knows something more about it than I.

>
If you want to be offended, be offended. That wasn't initially my intention, but I certainly won't lose any sleep if you are.

I'm sure you can avoid offending someone by calling him/her an ass. Try it on your teacher, or your parents sometime. While you're at it, question your mother's right in switching you when you're being an ass. I'm sure she'll like that.

>
You stated a belief that you felt it was better to act smug and arrogant towards someone rather than just come out and tell them you have a problem with them. I disagree.

If you had gotten my point way earlier, about you being,

"Right. Not an ass, just smug, pompous and unhelpful. Pardon me."

I don't see why it's such a pain for you to understand the following:

This is what you said,

"Making an ass of oneself and being an ass are two different things. We've all made asses of our selves from time to time."

This was my response,

"Yeah, but at least you can do it in an arrogant, smug, pompous way that doesn't involve profanities"

I was trying to say, (in case the meaning eludes you), that you're being a pompous arrogant ass, but at least you can do it without the vulgarity that followed, that is, me calling you an ass, and you calling me an ass.

>
Only when you persisted in defending something you were told (civilly, you should love that) was incorrect, and why.

I accepted I was being incorrect. You proceeded to tell me I was an ass, questioned my ability to reason.

>
Whatever. I've grown bored with it. If you want to grandstand and say "Look, everyone! I was being an ass and the imm told me I was being an ass instead of smiling at me! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!" knock yourself out. I don't much care, and I suspect most of the forum crowd is intelligent enough to see it for that.

I want a grandstand that says, "I was trying to reason with an imm, we argued and I admitted I was wrong. He proceeded to tell me I was an ass, and all but said I was a stupid who fails classes."

>
Well, you were being an ass. I'll stand by that call.

I had hoped it wouldn't come down to this, but since you insist.

Nepenthe, you are an ass.

>
I don't think you have any grounds to take shots at Braerus' intelligence. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. They especially shouldn't throw stones at houses made of sturdier materials.

I just call it as I see it.
Point A to Point B. Simple as that.
Btw, if I wanted to speak with the rest of the forum population, I would not have titled it to you.

>
I don't really think calling someone an ass is all that vulgar. I don't see much point in showing you what vulgar really is.

You know you want to. You encouraged me, now I'm encouraging you to do the same. You do it all the time without it, personally I think it shows more of your color.

>
Still, they're just words. The problem is when someone resorts to using them as a replacement for reason and real content. In my book, that would still be a step up on a poor attempt at the use of reason, because it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is.

I don't think you read what I wrote.
Since you want to call it for what it is,

Nepenthe, you're an ass.

>
Yes, it is possible to use logic poorly even if the logic itself is correct. I'm not ready to cede that it is correct, but I see no point in arguing over that.

Logic is a process of reasoning. It does not give you the right answer if the statement that logic works on, is wrong.

>
Oh. One more thing. I still think you're being an ass with respect to this whole thread, though, I might be as well.

Ok, Nepenthe, you're an ass too.

Instead of saying, wait, watch, and learn about conjurers. You have to be an ass about it and go about the way of saying something stupid like, it's easier to not die to a nightgaunt than to (die) when the boatload of people are dying because of it. (note I said because of it, not from it outright. Not that it makes that much difference)

I'm sure you'd be much happier if I had just called you an ass in the first place. Then you can be an ass about it, how much imms put up with ass flames from ass players.
