Not too much. It's the involvement with Mend that gets questionable. If he attacked their giant guardian, make him putty. But if he was just approaching and got munched by that bunch, I'd expect them to give Mend a bit of a lashing for interfering. They can fight their own battles. If they lose, they lose. If they win, all the better for them.
What is the cardinal rule in raid situations? Even the knights, honor bound freaks that they were, followed it. If you come a raiding, all bets are off. If there were 100 ragers sitting at the giant, do you think 99 of them would step aside if you attacked it? No, you'd get squished.
