Honor does not preclude strategy. You used one of your weapon spec skills in that entire fight, and pincer is a god-awful choice against a rager warrior. Whirl wouldn't hurt. Weaponbreak was really the thing to do here. Or dirt/hook at the very least (though he probably had a dragon-inscribed). If you say the reason you lost the fight was because of rager resist, I say you're smoking crack. You get MORE prep for a fight vs. another warrior than he does. Enlarge yourself at the very least. Get shield and stoneskin. There are many haste potions also, but I'm not expecting people to have those onhand. And then, use strategy! What's your second spec? Bashing in a noflee honorable duel is pointless (unless you're Maclochlan, whose only other choice would be chop... and he was probably afraid that you'd actually try and do something... note how he tried to entrap once he noticed you were just bashing).
