At Braerus' request... my first Scarab interview. (Awwwww...) I was always amazed at the interactions I had with him; a lot of the discussions/arguments we had (which later included Draktha, as well) now provide a new generation of cultists with propaganda to spout at the "blind", I've noticed. At any rate... I've done entirely too much posting today. I have lots more, but I'm going to stop going through my logs right now before I get people angry at me for spamming the forum. :P <100%hp 27%m 100%mv> <100%hp 27%m 100%mv> st <100%hp 27%m 100%mv> e [Exits: north west] <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> nod <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> whe <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> <100%hp 27%m 97%mv> rest <100%hp 38%m 100%mv> <100%hp 34%m 100%mv> exam braerus <100%hp 34%m 100%mv> <100%hp 34%m 100%mv> 'I have <100%hp 34%m 100%mv> <100%hp 40%m 100%mv> 'It is. <100%hp 40%m 100%mv> <100%hp 45%m 100%mv> <100%hp 45%m 100%mv> 'I've come to certain conclusions during my life which seem to lend themselves to the Father's credo. Braerus tells you 'Come'
You stand up.
Steep crumbling steps before the mausoleum
Overgrown with weeds and hidden in the shadows of twisted moss-covered
trees, an ancient marble mausoleum juts out of the rocky hillside, its
rusted iron gate hanging loosely on its hinges. Crumbling steps lead
up to gateway and the darkness within. Above the entrance a bronze tablet
is mounted. Dark weathered stains lead up the steps and through the
portal beyond. To the southwest the hill slopes down to the sounds of a
rushing river.
Braerus the Knight of Destruction, Voice of the Scarab is here.
You nod.
Players near you:
(PK) Xaril Steep crumbling steps before the mausoleum
Braerus Steep crumbling steps before the mausoleum
Braerus nods solemnly.
Braerus sits down on the steps.
Braerus looks at you intently.
You rest.
Braerus glances at you.
Braerus leans up against the wall, eyeing the room's occupants with apathy. He
wears snug black pants tucked into dark leather boots. A black lenin shirt
hangs loosly on his wide shoulders. The laces meant to tightened the shirt
hang limp, baring part of this human's chest. A red, pulsing tattoo can be
seen on his exposed flesh, yet at that moment he crosses his arms and you can't
make out what the mark represents. A bright red sash brings the only flare of
color to his clothing. Behind his back two daggers are crossen in an "X" like
fashion, kept inside the sash. His hair is dark and kept short, while there is
a hint of grey on his sideburns. A small mustache and neat goatee meet to form
a circle around his mouth. Braerus flashes a devilish grin, as he radiates a
charm few others in the world possess. Overall, you can tell little about him.
His eyes shimmer and you can't decide which color they are.
Braerus is in perfect health.
Braerus says 'You have gained Father's empowerment?'
You say 'I have'
Braerus says 'And your sphere is purity?'
You say 'It is.'
Braerus says 'Very well, tell me what brings you to the Cult.'
Braerus leans back on his elbows.
You say 'I've come to certain conclusions during my life which seem to lend themselves to the Father's credo. I sought him out, and now seek to become closer to him.'
You say 'I lived in an area where too many words could get a young boy killed.'
Braerus motions for you to continue.
You say 'I have served the Lord with my eyes and ears... I do not envy your position.'
You say 'My throat tends to tighten up after speaking for extended periods.'
Braerus flashes a devilish grin.
Braerus says 'What is it you seek to purify?'
You say 'I'm disgusted by the number of people in Thera who serve causes they say they believe in but which no man truthful to himself actually could.'
You say 'I've watched, and learned who they are.'
Braerus says 'For example?'
Xaril rubs a hand across the top of his head.
You say 'For example, only one, a warrior who served the light who I met a few days back.'
You say 'As we passed on the road, he spat at me and threw words in my direction.'
You say 'When I prodded him to learn of his motivation, he said that he despised me.'
You say 'I was somewhat taken aback.'
You say 'He could come up with no other reason than my lineage. Not to say that if he were to actually know me he would not despise me.. he likely would.'
You say 'But he believed himself to be righteous because of a guideline that some obscure force has provided him.'
You say 'Some mystical division between he and I...'
You say 'I tend not to like such assumptions.'
Xaril clears his throat.
You say 'For a more specific example...'
You say 'The sylvan warders, they tell us they serve the "Mother" and her nature...'
You say 'But they are so entangled in outer conflict and a two-fronted war that they could not possibly remain true to this.'
You say 'Yet they continue to put up that ridiculous face.'
You say 'It's contemptible that they attempt to justify their actions with lies.'
Braerus says 'I assume you've read of the Fog of Illusion?'
You say 'I've heard of such a writ.'
Braerus says 'Define it'
You no longer see invisible objects.
You say 'The fog of illusion?'
Braerus nods solemnly.
You say 'I would presume that such a term encompasses that which I've already concluded.'
You say 'There are those...'
You say '...who wrap themselves so thoroughly in righteous causes and blinding ideals that they've no idea what they serve.'
You say 'They are blinded, and act as automatons... marionettes, with no one at the strings.'
Braerus says 'For one who dislikes talking...you sure do it a lot.'
Braerus chuckles dryly.
You say 'I will pay the price later.'
Braerus says 'I asked what the fog was...not who wears it.'
Braerus says 'What does it consist of?'
You say 'The fog is this system of beliefs some hold.. perhaps more succinctly defined as the Light.'
Braerus says 'Are only lightwalkers clouded by the fog?'
You say 'Of course not.'
You say 'I would presume to say that most if not all lightwalkers are, but many others can be tainted so.'
Braerus says 'so maybe we should redefine the fog...more specific then the light.'
You say 'You suggest that one who walks the grey cannot be tainted or blinded by the Light?'
You say 'The fog, then, is anything which might keep one from realizing one's true motivation and desires.'
Braerus says 'I suggest that the fog clouds those of all walks of life. Which is why you need to define it better.'
You say 'The Light is a blanket term.. as is "fog."'
Braerus says 'Like that?'
You raise an eyebrow at the notion.
Braerus says 'What clouds one from realization of motivation and desire?'
You say 'Delusions about righteousness.'
You say 'If one is motivated by some blackened husk of a dead Greater Good, one is blind to what might be a better way of life.'
Braerus says 'Did you hate the warrior that I presume you killed?'
You say 'I did kill him. I relieved him of his ridiculous notions. Perhaps his mind will be cleared by the experience, and if not, then he'll die again.'
You say 'I did not hate the warrior. I hated his thinking.'
Braerus says 'Do you think he hated you?'
You say 'That was part of his thinking.'
Braerus says 'Do you think hate is a true emotion?'
You say 'Hate is a natural reaction to something not understood.'
You say 'Despite is an emotion.'
You say 'Hate is different.'
You say 'Despite implies knowledge, while Hate is for fools.'
Braerus says 'What do you think are true emotions?'
You say 'I am not an emotional man, but Despite and Desire are two I am aware of. Most others are illusions.'
Braerus stands up and walks over to you.
You stand up.
Braerus says 'I believe you have potential to make a good Cult member.'
You say 'As do I.'
You smirk.
Braerus says 'Yet, I want you to further understand true emotion/feelings, before I recommend you. I think you will find that knowledge quite helpful.'
You say 'Research is my specialty.'
Braerus says 'Therefore I want you to write a scroll to Father and myself explaining what emotions are true.'
Braerus says 'For me, there are five. But for you they may be different.'
You say 'Emotion is not something I had considered at length. But no knowledge is entirely useless.'
Braerus says 'It is more important that you study humanity...learn what drives it. What is under that fog.'
You say 'Then, am I to be dismissed, Braerus?'
Braerus says 'You are'
You say 'You will receive a scroll shortly.'
Braerus says 'Very good.'
Xaril bows quickly.
Braerus says 'Embrace the dark'
You say 'As it should be.'
