Well, I've been thinking back to my first hero and remembering how much fun everything was. I had a great time, got in my first cabal, tattooed for the first time, I even got to the 5th or 6th Circle of Hell and the only things I had mastered were sword, second attack, and sing. yada yada

Well after that I had another hero in Empire that was pretty unremarkable. About this time, #cf on irc came about. I eventually went on and I got sucked into the high-stakes life of inflated egoes, cheating, backstabbing, and general moronicism that went on there. yada yada

Deleted him and tried to play a few other characters that I much enjoyed because of some interactions but were very unsuccessful. Then I had to take a break from the game and played very little and heard from my friends what was happening. yada yada

Now I came back some time ago and tried to play. Made one character that didn't really work out that well though again, I had some really good interactions with a few (2) people. Made another, an imperial warrior named Midhendan, who was pretty much a clone of my first imperial but with a different rp (or should I say with an rp at all?)Now, I rp'd him as well as I could, but not once did I get anyone interesting to speak with me. I was a bit disappointed in this and when I died an embarrassing death to Vimal (which I normally wouldn't have cared about because I die countless embarrassing deaths) I deleted. yada yada

Now there is a point to my narcissistic ramblings. I read the entire Groan/Mendeiron/Dyston thread and had to agree with Groan. It's my opinion that on the mud such an emphasis has been placed on practicing and everyone is so concerned with being famous that the "elite" players are more likely to be paranoid and depressed people. It seems like everyone is so eager to jump on someone and assassinate them through a post or whatever for no reason at all. People seem much more likely to respect people because they can pk and mindlessly recite their "rp" so they can get a tattoo.

For example, take the logs showing something that is "unacceptable rp" such as ragers having mages around and aiding or something like that. What do you possibly have to gain by posting that? Why don't you take the time to explore this abberance with your characters?

Where are the Lyrias, the Gatolins, the Istendils, the Eshlinas? Sure Istendil was a great killer but his rp was great and I actually felt like I was around a necromancer rather than someone thats spent hours practicing and now is waiting to go kill someone and get some good eq or be well known. Many of you like to make fun of Eshlina, but she was fun to be around and a good rp'r even if she wasn't the greatest imm.

I don't know, is it just me? I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments you have. Anyway, good luck trying to gather anything from my inarticulate and disjoined thoughts.
