Yeah I see your point. All I am trying to say is that both examples are valid. For instance : Master invoker - A neutral half-elf has studied for years under his tutor. The master is suddenly buried in a pile of rubble after a freak earthquake, and dies. The student vows to learn to control the elements of earth and air - earth to sense and control such upheavals, and air to be able to control that which falls. In the course of his studies, he finds that he has a natural knack for controling the viscious elements of nature, and then starts to get a little crazy...he begins to believe (or realize, in his eyes) that nature has it in for him, so he tries to control the forces of nature in an attempt to turn the elements against nature and exact his revenge for the death of his master. Sylvan invoker - A neutral half-elf has studied for years under his tutor. The master realizes the student's potential and informs the student of a well-kept secret - there is more to elemental magic than meets the eye. Yes, he has learned that which other invokers have learned - to attempt to control the elements. But true power comes when the power of nature is not forced as in invocation, but channeled. Upon this realization, the student seeks out a master invoker in the Sylvan Warders to explain what is meant by this...and how nature has infinite stores of power to protect itself, but it needs a channeler to make the powers useful, etc etc. I'm not sure if my point came across, but check it out...from a technical standpoint, each and every character in a particular class has the same skills/spells/supps. What is great about this game is the amount of freedom given to the players and the imms to come up with a creative way of explaining where the spells come from. Yes, by common sense/common definitions, the conjurer demands that a being come serve him from another plane...but be more creative than that...Instead of demanding the service of a creature against its will, say you are asking an army of extraplanar beings for assistance and they send recruits or scouts or warriors or paladins from their society to help you out. And they only do this because they agree with your cause. Hell, an elven conjurer can even be justified in summoning a demon - you are forcing it into the light by making it fight your battles..if it turns against you, it will be slain, and you will attempt to turn another demon. Well that may be a stretch, but all I'm saying is that with a little creative effort, anything is possible. sparky, who waits for a meeting
