I have spent a lot of time (too much time) studying int and wis and i would be very suprised if i was wrong. This is what i believe to be true. Mana rolls are almost completly determined by int. Each stat is affected by clothes differently, i strongly believe that having 18 int with plus 5 int items is exactly the same as natural 23 int. (assuming you remember to always wear them) Unlike con, clothes dont seem to be as good. Wis is also different in that the effective wis is equal to your natural wis plus your wis with eq divided by 2.
Gnome transmuter vs human transmuter, gnome has alot more wis and doesnt recieve more mana (or atleast not a significant amount). Keep in mind that mana rolls are subjected to considerable randomness, so one needs to compare more than 1 char vs 1 char to realise these differences.
In addition invokers average about 1 more mana a level than transmuters.
Which is why you need natural 25 wis to get 6 pracs.
Gnomes have alot more trains, not more mana, unless you train mana.
