Information Nightgaunts serve Nodens, and grapple their foe, carrying them off to be dumped in the most dismal isolated places. Nightgaunts are stationed at various places around the world to guard over places, but they never come out during daylight. They are not very intelligent, but can understand the glibbering of Ghouls, and are friendly to some occult races. Nightgaunts always attempt to sneak up on their victims, and try to avoid direct confrontation if at all possible.

I like the part about avoiding direct confrontation.
