Triggers are in my opinion, useful for some things,
that would deter you from being able to do what you
want. Like aliases are fine. Triggers are not, for
your reaction speed should be your own.

Example:

Casting spells with long names, or people with
weird names, is fine.

Making it so you automatically fight someone, etc,
when they arrive, is not because the only thing
that can really beat that is waylay and such, in-
game triggers.
