I'm pretty sure the reason for cabal powers is that no one would want to make certain sacrifices just for the rp.
If knights hadn't gotten healing weapons, do you think anyone would have said "Yeah, I'll give up gang-banging...for nothing too!"
If Ragers didn't get spellbane and resist everyone would think "Give up magic, fuck that"
Now there are a couple cabals that don't have much sacrifice involved, Empire for one.
