It's generally not necessary(or advisable) to max all of your stats as those trains are better used elsewhere. As somebody that regularly plays humans I usually plug any extra trains into hp or save them for con.

Unless you're playing mage or cleric there's no need to train your int/wis above 17/18. There's plenty of of +int/+wis gear out there to wear while your practicing your skills etc.

If you're playing a mage there's no real reason to go wasting trains on dexterity or str. You should have your int/wis/con maxed however. If you're wearing the gear that you should be wearing as a mage your strength and dexterity will be item maxed and that's really all you need.

I usually play bards as mages(wear a poo load of hp/mana gear and let your songs beef up your hit/dam).

Conjurers, I can't think of a good reason to play a human or half-elf conjurer as 20/21 int is going to suck as compared to a gnome's or elf's.
