and unlike many other classes who have these on near permanent tap they have to spend a -long- time gathering them if they wish to use them
The sheer time i takes to gather these wands and staves (Without dying in the process) is a good enough balance i feel for how obtainable they currently are.
Want to find a mage? Go stand by where he gets the wands from , he comes to you.
Without wands mages would get wrecked very easily and probably wouldn't be too worth it..
And everyone doesn't know where wands come from yet.
