A mage to be pretty well equipped needs
10 shield items
10 aura items
5 barrier items
30(ish) stone skin items
20(and upwards) flying items
10 protection items
(and maybe a few enlarge items)

and how easily do you think much of this is to steal?

warriors on the other hand can just use the stone skin and their lagging skills to help beat down a mage
granted it's not that simple
but mages put a shit lot more effort into preperation that warriors need to do.

hiding them i don't believe necessary
hell potions of sanctuary used to be 10 a penny
