I don't know all the differances between all the classes and what PK combo is best. I play to have fun and to explore a new world. Yes I get PK'd alot, and yes I do my share as well, but I'm not here to be a PK machine or try to powerlevel to Hero asap. that said... > Empowerment is not the same as tattooing. Some seem to think it is, and perhaps some Imm's see it as a step toward tattooing. I dont' know why anyone would seek empowerment if they don't plan on finishing the role to get the tattoo as well. But you could point back to the powergamers / powerlevers / and those who got what they needed and are happy with that. Empowerment is not the same as tattooing. It's > I was under the impression that any Imm could empower w/i their own spheres. I could believe if Imm's could empower to any sphere (maybe based on Imm rank). Someone above suggested Imm's empowering outside their spheres, I think that's a pretty good idea. All Imm's have their own ideas of perfect RP, but are smart enough (I would think) to recognise good RP in other spheres as well. There may be Imm's who don't want anyone else EMP. their spheres, but this may be a good solution to a not-so-bad-as-of-yet 'difficulty' Any 53+ Immortal can empower in the spheres > Also I know some relegions have had a 'Voice', or such. Could you grant empowerment abilites to a 'mortal' leader for your religion (as with cabals)? The final marking is still to the Imm, and snooping a mortally empowered character would be a given, I think, when that Imm has a chance to break from all their other duties and check-up on their followers. Theses Mortal avatars could at least meet with empower seekers and say 'Hey, check this guy out, or don't even bother with him yet...' Anything to make the process more successful. It's not a dead horse, we just want him to run faster... Yes, a few religions have a hierarchy, but not > Final thought: I really love seeing Imm's posting here. It's good to know they are listening, even if they say no. I don't mind informing the player base (what of
been written about many times before and, a
shorter version about spheres and how empowerment
is (or is not) directly related to the deity
empowering you can be found on the CF web site's
FAQ (under Getting Help). One is not required
to get the tattoo (i.e., follow the religion of)
the empowering deity. Religions are a concept,
a philosophy -- a religion. This means
that while a deity holds sway over a particular
sphere, a cleric whose beliefs lie within that
sphere won't necessarily have such a broad set
of beliefs such that it would encompass the
entirity of the religion. For instance, just
because you're a shaman of War, doesn't mean
you adhere to Gareth's belief that Justice is
a necessary result of War. You may feel a special
bond, maybe a kinship, but certainly a reverence
for Gareth if he empowered you under the sphere
of War, but there's nothing to say you have to
get his tattoo (i.e., adhere to his religious
beliefs).
they're listed for (on the wizlist and pantheon).
For spheres not taken by any Imm, usually a
deity of similar beliefs (same alignment, usually)
empowers for those spheres. If an Imm is going
to be away for awhile, usually they let any
other Imm empower for them. Lastly prays (and,
importantly, where they come from) are logged.
So we know if someone has been praying for us
and we know if it's been from a shrine, another
appropriate locale for your sphere, or in the
hidden forest killing trolls.
many -- you're thinking of Scarabaeus's Voice,
Flame, etc. I think we'd all agree his religion
is a bit more comprehensive than most. As for
mortals empowering -- I'm not so sure about that.
The cleric in question doesn't hold sway over
the sphere of power, so I don't see how he could
apportion it another cleric, except maybe by
sharing his own power with the other one. Maybe
a paladin might do that, but I don't see that as
a particularly good solution on the whole.
it that reads this forum) about the game, trying
to explain things to them that will improve their
experience and hopefully make them better players.
But with the past history of CF forums, I usually
don't come here much because there isn't much
worth reading and even less to make informative
comments about. While I disagree with most of
Widowson's points, I do think it a good way for
the Imms to let the players know our thoughts
and reasoning about these issues, so it's not
such a mystery.
