In all this rush to criticize empowerment people forget the good things it does. It gives you a bond with your god at a low rank. For those craving immortal interaction and a chance to roleplay, this is a great start. As far as talking to other priests of the religion...I would encourage that in most situations. In the very least it gives you a chance to roleplay about your religion, (a big bonus if your god is watching). It gives the other empowered priests something to do and makes them feel a part of their religion.
