> How large would you say a good role has to be? I saw one here the other day of a deleted char which blew me away! The whole thing was like 30 big paragraphs. Now I look at my poor little 15 lines-role and I wonder if some imm isnt reading it and shaking his head..

Cyradia seems to be the IMM with the biggest role fetish. =P Her first post on this topic was really good: ../messages/12254.html. There are a ton of similarly good posts as well.... Forum Search on "role" or "cyradia" will lead you to a lot of them. Long or short (I've certainly done both), the role should just be good. I'm quite certain an IMM would rather read a short, original role than some sprawling 18-page ramble.

> Also whats the point of deleting a character? do they really become so useless from resurrections? Or if you get bored why dont you just leave it for like a month and see if you come back to it? I know ive done this many times on other muds, re-taken a character I thought boring long ago. It just seems drastic to just erase.

I just wrote a soapboxy and sanctimonious Manifesto on this. If you can stand that sort of thing, check out PB vs. Imbrogno debating this at ../messages/3478.html.

The shorter version: It's my opinion that you should delete a character when you no longer enjoy playing that character. Deaths don't matter that much, in my eyes, but a lot of people get all teary-eyed when their perfect, shiny PK ratio is marred by someone that they don't think is as wonderful as they are.
