> His point, or at least part of it, is that sylvans are syvlans because of the pk powers the cabal confers. To me this sounds like a "whine". Yes, syvlan powers are quite powerful, but are limited to where you can use them (ever try to call a beast on the eastern rd?). Master's powers are also quite the thing. Yes, we've all seen logs of some mage running aorung with 1500 to 2000 hp, Empire has numbers (at least that's the premise). So I think he's just bitter at being beaten down. And that's fine, but then to complain seems a bit trite. Bitter? Hardly. I'd rather insects were a lot less broken, yes. Nothing a Master can do can cure them. 90% of the time, Sylvan wins if he/she can drop insect swarm onto a solo Master. (case in point, trapping enemies with swarm/thorns/call. It's really rare that you're getting out of a trap that you can't see. Shamans make it all the more stupid (as you cannot see the shaman in question, as well as his three Sylvan buddies before they jump you in thorns.) I'm dismayed that Sylvan were more of a faceless enemy than anything else, that they didn't give personalities to hate, that they just ran around in their deathsquads (a couple Sylvans excluded out of this generalization). I'm more or less disgusted by the way their "roleplaying" has gotten far away from the forest protector attitude that Sebeok and Jezral had envisioned. Seriously, Proserpina did more to protect goodies and children from people than I've seen any Sylvan in a year do. Perhaps I've not been around for most of that, but indeed, what I have been seeing is this constant "deathsquad" mentality. I mean if you are on the end of a rager's deathblow and take an UNSPEAK does that mean deathblow needs toning down? No, it just means you were unprepared and probably a little unlucky. If that felar raiding for the orb gets whacked by the archmage's nova, does that mean nova is skewed, no. The archmage, I'd argue, is one of the weaker guardians, and the Tower is a really weak cabal for defense. Sylvan's cabal spores you, which can wreck a Master even if you're in one of the rooms. Old-style Cabal defenses would definitely be cool, as you're in an enemy cabal. Just don't give one cabal it and exclude to give the others that. Masters without their powers are a lot less tough than they are with, so why is it that their guardians are weaker, as well as their cabal? Because Masters can shield and haste their guardians? Come on. Sylvan can do the same thing, I can see why the 'ragers get a more powerful guardian (they're pretty crippled without powers). However, why on earth is the Master guardian weaker than the bear? > That's the only reason I've died to Sylvan. An incurable curse that stops teleports.
> This goes for warder powers as well. There are situations where a given power is quite effective and situations where this is not the case. So, avoid the former.
> Be prepared and relaize that the pack has huge numbers currently. When the war is on, you'll die a little and not because the powers are awesome.
