In the past 5 years probably 1500 hours. Well I haven't had any hobbies that have
lasted 5 years, but I'll easily surpass 1500 in a couple years with my new hobby.
I still play CF, but no to the extent I used to.

I've tried one of them and I cannot imagine it ever replacing CF. There's
something about text muds that I like. It's more fun imagining what everyone
looks like from their desc rather than some stock graphics. The graphical mud
limited my imagination and just didn't have the sense of fantasy I get from CF.

It's really hard to say, but I think with the movement toward quick fixes of adrenaline
that most kids want, it's going to be tough to compete with quake etc... Seems the idea of
having to work on a character isn't as appealing to some of the newer players. Just my
observation though.

I hope so. It really will depend on the playerbase and the quality of roleplaying. If it
begins to degrade then no I don't see myself playing. My involvement in the SCA gives me
plenty of opportunity for creativity and enjoyment so it won't kill me to leave mudding behind.

I'd not spend 8 hours. Probably 2 or 3. No I wouldn't play any of the graphical muds.

I've been addicted to CF. I almost didn't graduate because I spent most of my senior year
mudding. Only the intervention of my wife saved me. I see how bad I was now and it's kind of
scary.

Never thought about it as a career. Yeah I do mud sometimes at work.

I am writing a research report on the future of mud-type games, so am
interested in any opinions people might have on these topics. Feel free
to make any other comments or insight on these topics, just keep in mind
that no matter how pathetic you might think of yourself for putting a
ton of hours into this game may be, there's always somebody who has played
more.
