Another reason Harandor lost this fight:

You parry Harandor's acidic bite. 
Harandor deflects your chop with his shield.

He was being a silly, silly boy and holding Defiance in his inventory instead of wielding it. It could have easily won him the fight, and most certainly let him not lose it. And no, I'm not going to explain how.
