I am now playing a nearly hero Master, so I do have a pretty good view of the whole rager master war as of late. And to be honest, I think it is helping Masters more than ever. I will explain. As this war goes on, and the ragers number at least 6 to 1 against us every night/early morning it is forcing us Masters to be better prepared, and more on our toes. This means spending more time on finding wands/staffs/ect keeping an eye on where people are, and basically being paraniod. And whis is helping us. A week ago the masters were getting raped, just demolished by the ragers, very few of us were surviving a night without dying. But I am starting to notice that as of recent all the mistakes made in the past few weeks are starting to show through as great learning opportunities. And now, it isnt so much a massacre. Sure, we still die in droves, but so do they now. Sure their powers are extremely strong, and sure their spellbane is hell to hit through. But we are learning. We are learning both when to fight, how to fight, who to target, and who to stay away from. It is all a matter of trimming the fat, and learning through screwing up..and anyone who knows my character will know, I screw up so often it is damn amusing. I will say this though, my next mage will have much much more con at this stage in the game than I do. Just because I will not make as silly mistakes. I.E. leaving the tower with no shields/ no Trasform/ nothing. and a few more notable goofups that I will not go into due to their embarasing nature. Yes, ragers are powerful. Yes they are massive in high ranked numbers. Yes it is damn impossible to kill them when they are traveling in droves. Yes to invokers their spellbane is a bitch. Yes, they were beating the tower into a pulp. But not for much longer. The new breed of master is having to grow up in this environment, where every level is a challenge, and every day is just a prayer for mere survival. When the younger ones catch up, they will be hell to deal with. Slowly, very slowly, those ragers that ranked up real fast to hero while the masters were busy with the empire will dissapear. Either due to boredom or con death, and the masters that are coming up in their wake will have the knowledge to live, and prosper even with numbers of ragers. I personally have learned more about survival (running from ragers, when to,and when not to word), player killing strategies (actually killing a rager or twelve), exploring (teleporting ect.), and plain gut instinct through playing my current master than I ever did with my other chars who were either just as high in level, or heroes. This is what will make the game stronger for all of us. The more someone is handed their ass, the more drive they develop not to have it handed to them again. And those who get pissed and quit or delete/delete good riddance, it is a mere case of trimming the fat. The effort spent on keeping you alive could be spent networking with another that will actually tough it out. Being in Masters now is like Boot Camp in the Army. You get your ass chewed on and spit out by everyone and their mother, then, if you have the guts, and the patience, and you dont get discouraged by many failures, you will at some point come out on top. You will graduate, and you will be a force to be reckoned with. If you dont have what it takes, go roll a trouper and stay out of the way. That or just keep quiet and do not bitch. Hell, on the contrary. I get killed all the time...well, not so often anymore, but still, enough to be annoyed by it. But I say, "Bring it on" because every time I die, I learn something. I look back at the battle and think "Hrmm...I shoudlnt have been doing that" or "If I had done that, we would have won that fight". I dont start throwing a hissy fit. To conclude. Thera is tough on mages right now. It is tough on everyone at some point. Ragers, I hope to see your numbers dwindle soon...but for now. Keep up the heat, we need our masters tempered to a fighting readiness, and skilled like the elite of thera they are supposed to be. Big AL
