I dunno. Personally, I think Flontinot/Quinthen oversimplifies Maran philosophy. I think he should play one. This is more in reply to his commentary than PB's on game code and evils not being able to group with goods. Re: Alignment. It goes both ways. I think if everyone uses their original choice of alignment as a touchstone, and bases their role in some way around explaining/justifying it, it might work out much better than it does now. For example, your character is surrounded by a "red aura." Why? What actions does your character take for granted that would result in him being surrounded by a taint of shadow? Most of the "enlightened" evil aligns I've come into contact with have very little reason, at all, to have earned the "red aura." On the other hand, some "enlightened" evil aligns like Quinthen, for example, did have reasons for the "red aura." Quinthen should keep in mind that it was his reasons/role/character actions that earned him "Hunted" status among the Maran, not the red aura itself. Now, if your role doesn't lend itself to enough justification for the red aura (like, for example, Zeruel's) you should consider having the aura dimmed. To illustrate, Zeruel is not generally hunted, because his "red aura" does not accurately represent his role (and should probably be removed). Anyway - What Quinthen may or may not know about the Maran is that their "gold aura" isn't taken for granted. It is something to be earned throughout the entire character's life. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone tried to "earn" their alignment? The problem with alignment as it is now seems to be that most people disregard it in their roles.
