I'll address a few points, because your response is quite interesting...:

Flontinot and Quinthen had very different opinions on the Maran. They shared none of the same views. As for oversimplification, sometimes thoughts are best explained by the simplest means. I like the Maran. I like the whole concept of them. Quinthen simply despised them, for obvious reasons. Flontinot learned throughout his life and experiences, that they were powerful friends.. but not allies by any means.

Quinthen should keep in mind that it was his reasons/role/character actions that earned him "Hunted" status among the Maran, not the red aura itself.

No doubt.

> Anyway - What Quinthen may or may not know about the Maran is that their "gold aura" isn't taken for granted. It is something to be earned throughout the entire character's life. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone tried to "earn" their alignment?

Yes. Absolutely.

> The problem with alignment as it is now seems to be that most people disregard it in their roles.

That is mainly my point. Frankly, I wish it were easier to change ones alignment. The loss of spells and skills in doing prevents this, and perhaps prevents players from following their characters roles to a certain extent. It's a bit limiting. I have no solution at the moment, and I'm sure it's a problem IMM's have tossed about.
