The only advantage I see goods having is that they can be elves (a particularly good race for conjurer..). There's nothing to say that an evil or neutral conjurer can't outclass a good conjurer.

I have it on good authority that the imm's know what they're doing. If you have a familiar that seems worthless, you probably don't know what it does yet.
