I'm in the process of making a duergar warrior but I need some advice...:

My first choice of spec is polearm because I love the defense of distance and charge set. I thought about using hand to hand for my second spec since assassins, mages, and shamans can weaken the hell out you and you can't wield a weapon. But polearm and hand to hand is all defense and no offense. My next choice would be mace for offense. I would like to know from those who know what the best choice would be. Are +str items and gear easily accessible as to take care of being weakened? I'm sticking with polearm as my first spec definitely but I need some input on the second spec...
