My rant will begin with me saying that everything included herein is working on the assumption that we're talking about caballed people and/or that most people want to be in a cabal or get special powers for their role.

First, in response to Gabriel. I believe that the problem with gangbanging lies in the fact that those that wish to show honor and courage have no place to go. Battleragers, the last bastion of "honorable" combat has fallen by the wayside and turned to the darkness that is gangbanging. Now all cabals are encouraged to "win" by any means necessary. So pick up your sword, get your 50 friends, and beat some ass! Gone are the days of honorable combat, not because people don't want to play the role, but because you don't GET anything for playing that role anymore. You might get the personal satisfaction, but you don't get the special powers that balance the playing field against the shielded, black aura'd, flying, hasted, giant strengthed, monster from hell warrior with his 45 friends running along behind him.

In response to Arcane, again assuming we're talking about caballed people, there is no more "I'm going to hide in my super secret spot and practice until the odds are in my favor." because caballed people are expected to report to the cabal any time the outerguardian cries foul. So, you either report to the guardian, get your ass beat, and spend the next hours searching for gear and dying 3 more times while re-gearing, OR you don't play until the odds are in your favor.

So, in conclusion, the problem lies not in the mentality of the playerbase, but in the past decisions, choices, and policy-making of the imms. The imms decided to take out the last "honorable" cabal. The imms decided that all caballed people are expected to run to the outer guardian regardless if they have their item.

You either die a lot, run a lot, play when you've got the numbers, or risk ill will from the heavens.
