Umm.

Ok, first mastering skills doesn't mean nearly as much as you think it does. Equipment means even less.

If I were to rank importance it would go like this:

-Knowledge of the Game(Including what to use when, layout of the lands)

-Preparation(such as having resist, shield, we come, galadriel, and dance of the jak up before rushing into battle AND having a game plan)

-Skills practiced

-Gear

You could have great gear, and have all of your skills practiced and still have your ass handed to you 10 ways to Tuesday, but if you know the game and know how to do what you need to do you can kill that decked out hero-looting lowbie with all of his skills mastered.
