Your arguments are valid and thoughtful, so > A few things: > Sylvan used to be a fairly unique concept. It was Dawn before there was a Dawn. You had a group of people who really enjoyed just sitting around the grove roleplay a family-like group of people who truly cared and loved each other. Was it Dawn because of the way they dealt > They were relatively non-aggresive and would sometimes even *gasp* talk to defilers rather than immediately looking for someone in their range to come kill them. I don't think I've ever asked some random >You had a few people who liked to kill(I was one of them) but the vast majority were just peaceloving folk that really made it a joy to play a sylvan because of the diversity of people playing and roleplaying. I like to kill as much as the next guy.. Crystanthia was a joke. The history of the >There was a period where it worked, then Jezral flipped his lid and wrote a note to sylvan basically telling them to get out there and beat some ass. I can't remember if this was pre or post Crystanthia as leader but I think it was right before. Which was really fucking stupid of him to do. > Then came Lanthaeren who continued along the path of bloodthirstiness even though the leaders of the time couldn't pk worth a damn(Doveras and Arkand). Lanthaeren wouldn't know Sylvan (or any, for >After Doveras there was a long drought where Sylvan basically sucked over-ripe testicles. Then Voss came along and the bloodthirsty guerrila cabal came into being. Right about this time the pk list on the official page was put up, the war with magic was declared and a bunch of other things that really made the unique sylvan cabal of the early days non-existant and a distant memory. There's no war with Magic from our Voss/Hilaene/Sebeok have/had very similar > Sadly, all of the cabals have lost their direction. They've lost their willingness to talk to people of opposing cabals. Now they're just the same cabal of bloodthirsty dogs but with different powers. I can't remember the last time a warder actually tried to get me to stop defiling without having somebody come attempt to kill me. You'd think since the majority of you are fucking worthless when it comes to protection you might actually try talking, but no, I guess you think it's easier just to have the person dead. *shrug* I think I already covered this. > What do we have now. A bard which is basically worthless when protecting creatures. A shaman which is even moreso. A druid which is slightly better. Rangers which make me laugh with their silly herbs and armor. And a smattering of others actually worth a damn(ie healers, transmuters, and invokers) Yep.. I'm essentially worthless in regards > As for Pikel, do a Lycos search on his name, I don't think you'll have any problem locating the Salvatore book and/or a brief description of this dwarven cook who couldn't talk right and died his beard green because he wanted to be a "doo dad" or druid in English. I'm just waiting for his brother Ivan to apply. *chuckle* I was wondering what he means > I think every dwarf I've interacted with since Thror has talked like he has three different lisps and only knows half the alphabet. Starting to get tiresome. I understand where you're coming from, I just
don't take any of my responses as a flame or
anything of the sort.. hopefully a somewhat
intelligent discussion will come from this.
My thoughts below:
with each other, friendly/family like? The
handful of Sylvans now are pretty close, I
think.. granted it's not so touchy-feely like
the times of Eshlina, there's no chance of
walking in on group mudsex or anything like
that.. but Mend gets along great with all
the current Warders, and truly cares about
all of them.. I'd wager that all the others
would feel the same way.
person to come kill defilers, and have only
asked Warders or applicants to help out in
situations I couldn't stop. Given the
ability I have to protect amounts to making
mobs flee, I'm going to be talking to
defilers every time. You know what? It's
disappointing to do so.. without fail, I
hear "Go away, fuckface" or "Oooh, a warder,
I'm scared now" or other brilliant displays
of roleplaying. It's truly discouraging, I
don't think I've ever actually gotten into
a well-roleplayed discussion with a defiler,
and not for lack of trying. So when I hear
that sort of lame-ass non-rping response to
my pleas to speak rationally, you can be damn
sure I'll call on someone to help if there's
one available.
But, I'm not going to kill the same guy or gal at the pit 15 times in a row to boost
my pk-score. I certianly could if I wanted
to, but that's really fucking lame, and in
no way fits in with Sylvan ideology. The
roleplaying within the cabal is the best I've
seen in a cabal in my 5 years of cf, by
*far*. It's not touchy-feely-mudsex rp, it's
intense, challenging, thought-provoking rp.

His Sylvan time should be stricken from
memory as well.
perspective. We don't war with anyone. I'll
freely admit that the Magic thing has made
Sylvan less unique and more bloody, but it
wasn't exactly their doing or choice.
>Voss and Hilaene were/are basically carbon copies of Sebeok. The intensity is there, the sternness is there and so forth. Now it's kill kill kill. Kill the masters. Kill the defilers. Don't talk! Kill Kill Kill!!!! *sighs*
views on the cabal, and Sebeok's view of the
cabal is far more preferable to Jezral's or
Lanthaeren's. There never really was any
direction under the previous imms, now the
members at least know what the hell they're
supposed to be doing, as Warders. When's
the last time you heard of a Warder getting
booted for running around with drow, killing
forest creatures, or any of that ridiculously
poor rp nonsense that was *rampant* during
previous imms/leaders? I can't remember the
last time, it's been so long. The quality of
rp in the cabal has *greatly* increased, and
it's much different than it was early on.
But to say it's all killing-based is hardly
the truth. There are often times when I've
been asked to raid cabals or what not to
kill folks, and have declined.
to saving dryads or whatever. Hence, the
necessity to talk.

think Pikel's doing it a little differently
than the others.
